Panasonic Japan announces two Android tablets designed for business users-- the BizPad JT-580VT (with a 7" display) and JT-581VT (10.1").
The tablets are shock-, dust- and water-proof, with a rugged form factor Panasonic claims withstands drops of up to 80cm (in the case of the 10" model) or 120cm (the 7").
Both models carry an ARM Cortex-A9 dual-core CPU, with 1GB memory, 16GB flash storage, microSD slot, NFC reader, replaceable battery, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, USB port, GPS and IR radio. Connectivity comes through wifi and optional 3G (in the JT-580VT).
The 7" model has a 1024x600 resolution display, a 5MP camera and weighs 400g, while the 10" model has a 1280x800 resolution display, 1.3MP camera and weighs 700g.
The tablets will be available from January 2012-- in Japan, at least.
