Motorola wants to combine the smartphone with the action camera as it announces the One Action-- an addition to the mid-range One series featuring a rear-facing camera with a a 117-degree field of view allowing for GoPro-style shooting.

At first glance the One Action is similar to the rest of the One range, with a 6.3-inch 1080 x 2520  resolution LCD display complete with hole-punch cutout for a 12MP front-facing camera, even if the unusually tall 21:9 aspect ratio makes it stand out at least a bit. It carries a 2.2GHz Samsyng Exynos 9609 processor, a Mali G72 MP3 GPU, 3500mAh battery with USB-C 10W charging, 4GB RAM and 128GB storage (expandable via microSD). The OS of choice is, as the name might suggest, Android One.

What makes the smartphone a bit special is the rear-facing 3-camera array. The first two cameras are fairly standard, being a 12MP shooter and a 5MP depth sensor. The third one, however, features a 16MP wide-angle sensor designed for 1080p video capture. The sensor is physically rotated by 90-degrees, allowing users to shoot landscape video even while holding the phone vertically, and includes what Motorola calls "Enhanced Video Stabilisation" to reduce shakiness.

The One Action is available now in "various European countries," with more to follow in a later date.
