Dixons Carphone UK and Ireland head Katie Bikerstaffe announces her departure from the retailer, just 4 years after the merger between former CE retail rivals Dixons and Carphone Warehouse.

Katie BikerstaffeThe announcement makes Bikerstaffe the 3rd senior management member to leave the retailer in less than 3 months, following CEO Seb James and group finance director Humphrey Singer. She has been the CEO of Dixons Warhouse UK arm since the 2014 merger, and previously held roles in Univelever, Kwik Save, Somerfield and Dyson.

“I am incredibly proud of the Group’s achievements over the last few years, laying the foundations for a great future," Bikerstaffe says. "On a personal level it’s been a pleasure to work alongside so many talented and committed colleagues and I offer my heartfelt thanks to both them and the Board for their support over these years. After ten wonderful years in the business, I feel it is the right time to move onto my next challenge.”

For the curious, that "next challenge" is being the boss of UK energy firm formed through the merger of energy firm SSE with Germany's Npower, which is set to be finalised by early 2019.
