Doogee Mix 4 Solves Smartphone Notch Issue

Smartphone makers currently face something of a dilemma-- does one build the front-facing camera in the bezel, or in a notch? The Doogee Mix 4 features an alternative solution, and it involves a sliding mechanism.

Doogie Mix 4The Mix 4 is a 5.9-inch concept device with a display free from both bezels or notches, allowing for a screen-to-body ratio of 97%. It features a dual-layer design, allowing users to reveal the front-facing camera, sensors and even the speaker by simply sliding the bottom layer upwards. As revealed by YouTuber Arun Maini, the mechanism comes complete with a satisfying click when snapped open or closed, even if it means a thicker phone at around 11mm.

Maini does point out some issues with the design-- after all, moving parts can lead to weaknesses in the body. One also wonders how ambient light detection or the speaker work when they are tucked away. However the phone does look impressive, even when compared with something like the Samsung Galaxy S9.

Doogee still has to detail further features of the device, since so far it only says the device will carry a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It also gives no word of a release date as yet.
