iDevices launches the second generation of iGrill app-enabled meat thermometer-- the iGrillmini, a Bluetooth Smart device promising "highly efficient" cooking monitoring and longer battery life.

iGrillminiAround 25% the size of the original model, the iGrillmini features rugged mountable (via magnet) casing and a multicolour LED ring for the indication of how well food is cooked. The LED is also smarter, since it only lights up once the user and iDevice are within range.

Bluetooth Smart technology allows for a 45m range, as well as battery life reaching up to 150 hours.

The device pairs with post-iPad 3 iDevices via app (Android version coming 2014) complete with pre-loaded and custom temperature alarms, graph-based cooking tracking and social network features.

iPad Air Accessories from Logitech

One can usually rely on Logitech for new iDevice accessories, and since the iPad Air is soon available the company reveals 4 protective and keyboard products designed to "perfectly complement" the thinner and lighter tablet.

Logitech iPad The accessories in question are the FabricSkin Keyboard Folio, the Ultrathin Keyboard Cover, Ultrathin Keyboard Folio and Folio Protective Case.

All three keyboard products feature Bluetooth connectivity and "maximised" key sizes. The FabricSkin and Ultrathin keyboard folios are water-repellent, promise battery lives of up to 30 days (when used around 2 hours daily), feature a kickstand to prop iPads up.

The FabricSkin keyboard is similar to Microsoft's TouchCovers, with keys built into the fabric surface, while the Ultrathin folio is the more traditional, pressable option.

Livescribe Smartpen Gets 3rd Version

What else can one add to the humble pen after wifi? According to Livescribe the answer is direct  mobile device and app connectivity, as found in the Livescribe 3 smartpen.

Livescribe 3The most noticeable difference between the Livescribe 3 and the 2012 Livescribe Sky, however, is looks-- the latest smartpen looks like a writing instrument your average customer might actually want to use, with a sleek(er) black and chrome design more akin to traditional high-end pens instead of a piece of geeky hardware.

The cap features a capacitive stylus tip, while the pen also carries a microphone. Ink comes from Swiss-made "premium" cartridges.

The Livesribe 3 connects to Bluetooth Smart-compatible iOS devices (Android compatibility to follow) and the Livescribe+ app to digitise notes written on proprietary microdot-equipped Livescribe notebooks. Notes written on the paper automatically appear on the app, eliminating the need for PC apps or Evernote syncing.

Soundmatters Intros Dash 7 Speaker

Soundmatters shrinks down its portable flat Bluetooth speaker range even further with the Dash7, the smallest (by around 40%) speaker from the company to date.

Dash7Described not as a speaker but a "soundbar," the Dash7 delivers output of up to 90dB via combination tweeters/woofers (or "twoofers") armed with flat neodymium drivers pushing a "uniquely wide" frequency range.

Interestingly the battery not only promises up to 10 hours of playback (20 if amplifying music through 3.5mm aux in) but also doubles as a passive bass woofer. Customers wanting to augment audio even further can combine the Dash7 with the foxLO portable subwoofer.
