  • PDF

Motorola announces 2 successors to the Xoom tablet range-- the Xoom 2 and the Xoom 2 Media Edition, featuring similar specifications within different sized screens.

Motorola Xoom 2Both tablets carry a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB storage, rear- and front-facing cameras, wifi and Bluetooth connectivity and a splashguard coating. The OS remains Android 3.2, even if Motorola promises an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich is already in the pipeline.

The Xoom 2 has a 10.1" display and a couple of additions aiming at business use-- namely VPN support and data encryption. Motorola also promises the tablet has a battery life of around 10 hours.

The Xoom 2 Media Edition is smaller (with an 8.2" display featuring a 178-degree viewing angle) and has what Motorola says is a "20% improvement in graphics improvement" over the first Xoom tablet and adaptive virtual surround sound.

Motorla also offers a separate stylus accessory "with Precision tip."

TankCase-Mate launches the TANK iPhone case-- a case so tough the company says it passes US Department of Defense standards tests for sand/dust, shock/drop, wind/rain and vibration.

It consists of a polycarbonate hard shell with a cushioned shock-absorbant silicon interior (apparently inspired from motorcycle helmet engineering) and a retractable polypropylene screen protector.

The TANK case is available in 4 different colours (brown, grey, black and pink) and Case-Mate even includes a holster belt clip in the package.

One Plug, Two Chargers for Macbook Users

  • PDF

PlugbugYour Macbook and iDevice owning customers might find the PlugBug quite useful-- it replaces the removable standard 2-prong adapter and adds a USB port, turning it into a 10W USB charger.

Thus, it allows one to simultaneously charge a Macbook and an iDevice. As a plus, the PlugBug also works as a standard standalone USB charger.

It still has one catch, though-- it is currently only available with a North American-compatible plug. It can still serve European customers crossing the pond by converting international adapters, so not all is lost.

Use Solar Charger, Get Credit

Your customers might want a bit of incentive to start using a solar battery charger-- that's the philosophy behind Changers offering social networking and reward incentives with the Changers Starter Kit.

ChangersThe charger consists of a rechargeable battery (a 2x 3.7V li-on cell with 16 Wh capacity) and solar panel combination. Changers says fully charging the battery takes around 4 hours, and is compatible with any USB-enabled device.

The software and social networking make it more interesting-- the device records the amount of solar energy users collect and converts it into Changers Credits redeemable into (yet unannounced) rewards.

One can also boast about the amount of solar energy collected via community and Twitter functions.

Pre-orders for the Changers Start Kit are already open, with shipments to start on November 2011
