The Razr Returns for 2019

  • PDF

One has to admit it was inevitable-- advances in foldable displays have lead Motorola to bring back the Razr flip-phone, if in the shape of a 2019 Android smartphone featuring 2004 stylings.

Motorola Razr

The flip-phone format of the 2019 Razr means the device neatly sidesteps the UI issues associated with foldable phones such as the Samsung Galaxy Fold. Essentially, the 2019 Razr is a 6.2-inch smartphone (if with a taller-than-usual OLED display) users can fold into something half the size. The display even folds flat, making it superior to the Galaxy Fold in that aspect. It also includes a small display on the front cover, allowing one to easily check notifications and the like, and yes, holding up on calls is as easy as snapping the device shut.

HTC announces a lower-cost version of the Exodus 1 blockchain-capable smartphone-- the Exodus 1s, a version featuring less powerful hardware but still capable of running a full bitcoin node, a first according to the company.

Exodus s1Having a bitcoin node does mean the phone can mine for cryptocurrency. Instead, it allows the Exodus 1s to hold an entire bitcoin transaction ledger, allowing it to verify and relay cryptocurrency transaction without need for a 3rd party. The Next Foldable Phone Maker: Microsoft!

  • PDF

The Microsoft Surface hardware event has something of a surprise offering-- the Surface Duo, a foldable dual-screen device running on Android the company insists is not, in fact, a phone.

However the Surface Duo is arguably the more interesting of the two, what with it being smaller and featuring Android as OS, surprising considering it comes from the company behind, well, Windows.
