HMD Global Intros Nokia C2

HMD Global quietly releases an Android Go-powered entry-level smartphone-- the Nokia C2, a 5.7-inch handset feature fairly modest specifications, such as a quad-core UniSoc chipset and an HD+ display.

Further tech specs 16GB RAM, 16GB internal storage (expandable to 64GB via microSD card) and a 2800mAh user-removable battery. A headphone port is also included, together with a dedicated Google Assistant button allowing users to quickly enter voice search and give the Assistant commands. The back has a 5MP camera with an LED flash, while the front-facing shooter is also 5MP.

Xiaomi Puts Shoulder Buttons on Black Shark 3 Pro

Xiaomi continues to add on the Black Shark line of gaming phones with the launch of the Black Shark 3--  a handset available in regular and Pro versions, with the Pro adding physical pop-up shoulder buttons.

The two 21mm-wide buttons raise 1.5mm from the body of the Pro device, and Xiaomi claims they can withstand over 300000 lists and over 1 million clicks. The buttons make part of an oversized gaming phone, one with a 7.1-inch 3120 x 1440 resolution AMOLED display featuring a 90Hz refresh rate and 270Hz touch sampling rate. Also included are 8/12GB RAM and a large 5000mAh battery.

The First 5G Sony Smartphone

Sony announces a successor to last year's super-tall Xperia 1 flagship-- the Xperia 1 II (Mark two), a device featuring a 21:9 6.5-inch OLED HDR display and, in a first for the company, 5G connectivity.

Revealed at the Sony MWC replacement livestream, the Xperia 1 II is a handset with a focus set firmly on photography. It carries a triple-lens camera incorporating "industry-leading" Sony Alpha technology and specially calibrated Zeiss optics. The three cameras feature a 12MP sensor, together with with a 24mm, f/1.7 lens with a 82-degree field of view, a 70mm f/2.4 lens with a 34-degree field of view and a 16mm f/2.2 lens with a 124-degree field of view. Also included is 3D time-of-flight sensor for enhanced zoom, while the front has an 8MP selfie camera with a f/2.0 lens with an 84-degree field of view.

Quad-Camera Arrays for LG K Series

LG announces the 2020 K series lineup of mid-tier smartphones-- namely the K61, K51S and K41S-- features upgraded cameras capabilities through a rear-facing quad-camera array, as well as "improved all-round performance."

A first for the K series, the camera array consists of a high-resolution main camera, wide angle lens, depth sensor and macro lens. The highest-end model, the K61, gets a 48MP main lens, making it a first as far as LG smartphones are concerned (many flagship smartphones from the company, such as the G8 ThinQ have 12MP lenses). Meanwhile the K51S has a 32MP main lens, meaning it also surpasses many LG smartphones.

Samsung Unfolds Galaxy Z Flip

After months of hearsay and rumours Samsung is ready to present its second foldable smartphone-- Galaxy Z Flip, a clamshell foldable device featuring what the company claims is a flexible glass display.

Like the Motorola Razr revival, Galaxy Z Flip is very reminiscent of the flip-phones of years past. It is the bigger of the two devices, as the nearly edge-to-edge display unfolds into a 6.7-inch 2636 x 1080 resolution OLED panel. A three-stop "Hideaway Hinge" holds the device open at three different different, while a "Flex" mode splits the UI into two 4-inch screens, with a different app running on each half. The device also has a tiny 1.06-inch, 300 x 116 resolution cover display, allowing one to check the time or simple notifications without actually opening the full display.
