A startup named Smart Bike claims to have a rearview mirror solution for bicycles with the Hexagon-- a camera and companion app combo users pair with a handlebar-mounted smartphone.

Hexagon cameraThe Hexagon attaches to the bike seat post, with a quick-release system allowing one to easily remove it for charging and the prevention fo theft. It also features red LED clusters acting as turn automatic turn and braking signals thanks to an accelerometer and gyroscope, and users get manual lighting control via handlebar ring.

The actual camera streams 1080p/30fps video to the smartphone via wifi, and footage can also be saved to SD card and livestreamed online. The app keeps ride statistics, and should the camera sensors detect a crash the video is automatically saved to SD card before sending an SMS to select contacts together with the rider's GPS coordinates.

The Hexagon will be initially available on a preorder basis on the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform.
