Earin Claims Smallest Wireless Earbuds

A team formed by ex-Sony Ericsson and Nokia engineers claim to have the smallest cable-free earbuds around-- the Earin, a pair of separate buds armed with independent batteries and AptX-compatible wireless receivers.

EarinThe tiny buds weigh all of 5g and measure 14mm wide and 20mm long. They connect to smartphones and other audio devices via Bluetooth (3.0/4.0) and carry 50mAh  batteries promising up to 3 hours of playtime.

To make charging easier a companion capsule accessory provides both storage and an extra power source via built-in 100mAh battery (rechargeable via USB). The Earin package also includes 3 different foam tip sizes and a silicon "Concha Wing" attachment for more comfortable in-ear fitting.

The earbuds remind us a bit of the Dash "smart" wireless headphones, if with a difference-- the Earin makers eschew from adding non-audio features, meaning their take on wireless buds doesn't even carry a microphone.

The Earin buds are currently up for preorder on Kickstarter, and should ship from January 2015 once the crowdfunding campaign is over.
